The Sporting Life
Here's a bold statement for you: the potential for learning
through
sports is almost limitless. We believe it - and, for that reason and
others, we require all our students to participate with or on a school
team for a total of four semesters during their Trinity years.
The possibilities are many: a student can manage or play for one or more of over 40 teams in a full range of 22 sports, from field hockey and volleyball to swimming, golf and lacrosse
.
The demands are also the rewards: hard work, discipline,
self-motivation, respect, cooperation, leadership, physical fitness,
commitment, selflessness and accountability, all developed in a sense
of camaraderie. Those character-building qualities of Trinity's
athletic program ensure better athletes, better students and better
people. Competing against schools in the Virginia Prep League and the
League of Independent Schools, Trinity's teams range from top-quality,
highly competitive squads successful at the state level to our less
intensive junior varsity program. For each team, the emphasis is on
personal improvement and effort and on the value of competition. That
which is learned will serve well for a lifetime.
