Erin Flynn teaches orchestra, voice and piano at Trinity Episcopal School. She is also the founder of Redbird Cello Studio, where she has been offering private lessons, group classes and a performance lab since 2016 in Charlottesville, VA. With 14 years of experience teaching strings, Erin spent 4 years working with the orchestras at Albemarle High School, Journey Middle School and Lakeside Middle School, alongside director Carrie Finnegan. She has also taught all bowed string instruments at the Music Education Center and the Nazareth Music Center in Pennsylvania. Erin earned her degree in music and cello performance from Kutztown University, where she studied cello under pedagogue Marie-Aline Cadieux, viola with Mary Ogletree of the Reading Symphony, and chamber music with Kurt Nikkanen, concertmaster of the New York City Ballet. In addition to her work with strings, Erin sings with One Voice Chorus and studied voice with Christina Fleming, a vocal coach certified in the Alexander Technique. She has studied piano for 10 years and continues to receive mentorship from Hope Armstrong Erb, pianist and founder of the Greater Richmond Children’s Choir. Erin has performed with the Waynesboro Symphony, Richmond Allied Voices, the Shenandoah Symphony, the NEPA Philharmonic, Charlottesville Opera, Capital Opera, RVA Baroque and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
