IB Arts

Being an International Baccalaureate World School means that Trinity is able to offer the highest rigor of classes to high school students in academics and in the arts. IB visual art and music courses are the pinnacle of arts education — these courses blend history, culture, current events, technique and much more into the works students create, while curating the essence and application of creativity.

Any student can become an IB course candidate while enrolled at Trinity if they meet the prerequisites for that course and receive a teacher recommendation. IB visual art and music courses may be taken individually or as an elective for IB diploma candidates.

IB Visual Art

"IB Art changes the way that these students interpret their world — and it changes it for the better." -Amy Chaplin '88
Visual arts classes at Trinity are designed to prepare students for IB courses if they so choose by introducing students to peer critiques, artist statements, and risk taking in the beginning courses.

Similarly, music courses introduce and develop skills such as theory and performance needed for IB music. The IB music courses lead students in a challenging exploration of music theory, music history, world music cultures, performance and composition.

Any students interested in enrolling in IB visual art or music should meet with both his or her current art instructor and the appropriate art department head prior to the class registration period in the second semester of his or her freshman year.

"In art, I have freedom to discover my own solutions. I am not limited by a right or wrong answer. Having this freedom creates a balance between thinking logically and thinking creatively; an aspect of IB that appeals to me." -Trinity Art Student
