History in the Stars

“As someone who wants to pursue a career in STEM, being able to have the opportunity to meet another woman who has made an impressive career for herself in STEM, is an inspiration for me,” said Madison Jewett ‘26
Since 2007, Trinity Episcopal School has proudly partnered with The Richmond Forum where students connect with professionals and engage with world-renowned speakers. Most recently, our students attended the January forum featuring Dr. Amber Straughn, an astrophysicist who explores the wonders of the universe through science.

Using images from the James Webb Space Telescope, Dr. Straughn took the audience on a journey back to the intergalactic dark ages. “These telescopes do more than just answer scientific questions. They cause us to reflect on our connectedness. We’ve got each other. We’re not alone,” Straughn concluded. “This gives us reason to hope. The cosmic hope that if we put our hearts and minds towards doing something good, we can achieve the impossible.”

It was easy to see how students like Madison related so well to Dr. Straughn’s message as it also echoes our Trinity tagline to “Discover Your Path.” Thank you to the Richmond Forum for their continued support and partnership to educate our Titans.
