Titans capture first-ever D-I VISAA championship before record home crowd
Saturday, November 20 was a special day for Trinity, as a record crowd of nearly 4,000 students, parents, alumni and guests from Benedictine College Prep gathered in Aycock Stadium to see Trinity earn the Division-I VISAA State Football Championship for the first time ever.
In the temporary bleachers constructed at each end zone, spirit and sportsmanship were on full display as students created an atmosphere that led to what Coach Sam Mickens called “the greatest football game I’ve ever seen.”
On the field, the Trinity players and coaches exemplified the TITANS value of “Toughness,” enduring an end-of-regulation emotional rollercoaster — seemingly having won the game twice before heading to overtime — and a converting a do-or-die two-point conversion to seal the win.
“As someone who wants to pursue a career in STEM, being able to have the opportunity to meet another woman who has made an impressive career for herself in STEM, is an inspiration for me,” said Madison Jewett ‘26
